2011 Recap

Wow, this was quite a year for me!
I lost all my friends that were once close, gained old friends from my past, and became closer to my family than ever before. I tried lots of new things and went to new places and did a lot of changing. I could probably write a lot, but hey, pictures say more than words. So here is my 2011 recap starting with some to-do items I made way back in January!
My mom broke both her wrist - I played way too much Mario Kart on my DSi - I played way too much Sims 2 on my computer - I baby-sat a lot - I crafted a lot - Actually paid attention to, and watched, the Superbowl!
Celebrated my (golden) 20th birthday! - Obtained the old family computer in my room! - Cut my bangs! - Filmed a film with some friends (it turned out incredible!) - Watched some great friends get married
Dyed.... my hair turquoise - Was gifted a Canon Rebel T3i - Learned to drive - Got my drivers license - Gained a frozen smoothie obsession - Gave up coffee (luckily just for Summer) - Opened an Etsy Shop
Went on a vacation up north (first one in long time!) - MOVED!!! - Dyed my hair red - Thrifted a lot - Had an awesome Halloween costume

Babysat a lot - Celebrated first Thanksgiving AND Christmas in our new house - Paid a lot of visits to the dentist (and will continue to do so) - Experienced 11/11/11 at 11:11 a.m. and p.m.

I'm probably missing a heap of stuff, but honestly, I'm impressed by all I did. I've never recapped my life like this before and it's been awesome to reflect on everything! Here is next years to-do list.. wish me luck! lol

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!

Dollar Store DIY: Bow Headband

Some people are a whiz with food leftovers - me, I'm a whiz with decoration leftovers. Take a trip to your local dollar store and pick up some tree ornaments (after Christmas sales!) and cheap headbands and you've got yourself the following project.

I've made quite a few trips to the dollar store as well as the big name stores to pick up odds&ends decorations. This bow was just speaking to me that it had to be a headband! I made a few other goodies, but no tutorial for them, just pictures to use as something to help inspire you for your next DIY session!

The Polar Express

The Polar Express did not deliver any snow this year, but it sure delivered a fabulous day!
It was spent with my big sister, my mom, and an unexpected visitor - my big brother! We opened presents in the morning, ate a filling lunch, played on the Wii, and watched Christmas themed movies.

Christmas in our new house was very much a success!

'Twas The Night Before The Night Before Christmas

And one celebration has already gone down,
A friend and I went thrifting outside of town.
Some photos were taken to capture the Christmas,
and now back at home, it's clear the snow didn't miss us!

The flurries are falling so slow to the land,
the chill of the flakes have frozen my hand.

I can't think of any more to rhyme, because poetry isn't my thing. And my hands are cold. Merry Christmas to you all! I can't wait to come back to the blog after the weekend and be able to share the experience of celebrating it in our new-to-us house. I'm so siked!! :)

 Outfit details - Both shirts, total $8 (thrifted) - Jeans, $12.50 (F21 old) - Scarf, 50 cents (thrifted) - Hat, from my house - Boots, $15.00 (K-Mart) - Owl ring, $3.50 (F21 old)

Twice as Nice

This jean jacket is not dying any time soon! These outfits were worn at least a week apart, it's just stinkin' easy to put together and it's proved to be incredibly warm. I will do anything to not wear a coat in the Winter. haha

Well I've got some errands to run and presents to wrap and plans to set up, so I'm going to cut this post short. Hopefully my next post will be a bit more insightful! No promises though. :)

Outfit details - All thrifted except shoes which both came from K-Mart in the past (oh and the tights from Wal-Mart, I highly recommend them, very thick and durable!)

White Out

Look, ma, no shoulders! Oops!
It finally snowed!! I'm pretty certain in my last post, I wrote that I hope we get some this weekend, and we did! On Saturday morning - and it sure took everyone by surprise. I wish I would have got more pictures of it when it happened. These outfit pictures are from Sunday and the yard was already getting quite bare!
I'd like to think of this look as a celebratory one. I've been in style blogosphere since 2 years ago, TODAY! It's my blogiversary! I celebrated by decorating our Christmas tree (I procrastinated that for 2 weeks), ate peppermint brownies with peppermint cocoa (by mistake), watched the Baby-sitters Club Christmas Special, and played on our Wii with my sister.
Speaking of milestones, just last Sunday, I landed on the 1 year anniversary of taking my picture everyday on DailyBooth. (and I'm still going!) So I guess I'm a roll this month?!

Back to my blogiversary... I'm going to be taking the celebration over to another blog because I'm a guest poster today! To see what snazzy look I came up with to wear to a holiday party - head on over to Alles Mode right now! You will not be disappointed. :)

Outfit details - Tights, c/o We Love Colors (Scarlet Red) - Dress, $4 (Seventh Avenue) - Belt, from an old vest - Cardi, free (thrifted) - Heels, $2 (thrifted) - Necklace, ??

New owl ornament from my Blogger Secret Santa, Clio. Thanks!

Jeanious

I picked up this jean jacket a couple weeks ago from my local thrift store during their 25 cent box sale. I'm not a jean jacket kind of person, or should I say, I wasn't. But, for a quarter, I thought it would be fun to try. And wouldn't you know it, I've worn it with a bunch of my outfits this week! (be prepared to see it a few more times)
On of my favorite bloggers, Nicole, is a master of wearing jean jackets. I've gotten a few ideas from her blog alone. In fact, searching "jean jacket" on her blog turns up a lot of stellar looks!

This was actually one of my weekend looks from last weekend. I can't believe how cold it was! But then the weather turned back into mild and gray all week, which was fine with me since I spent most of time indoors. Hopefully this weekend shapes up to have nice, sunny weather again and maybe we could have a little snow?!

Outfit details - Shoes, $6 (Dollar General) - Belt c/o JMS - Tights, $5.50 (Wal-Mart) - Everything else thrifted! (totaling under $6)
Oh and I tried to do a mean face but my lips were too cold to move to the right spot. So instead I look like a pirate that smells something awful.
