Accent on Red

The wind is surely whipping today! We're expecting some rain here very soon. But this did not stop my mom and I from garage saleing. (neither did the idea of not having a car to do so!)
We walked all around our neighborhood.. and then some. We returned home with one small bag, my bag, filled with some clothes that after trying on did not in fact fit. It's been quite a frustrating time for me buying clothes the past few months. I haven't seemed to put on any weight, but I'm outgrowing a bunch of my wardrobe.
But on the bright side, by cutting back on the jean wearing I've been able to enjoy pants, pants with elastic in the waist!! These navy babies are like wearing pj pants around. Then it didn't help when I put on a plain tee, to which I tried to add a bunch of stuff to so that it truly didn't look like I was walking around in sleepwear. haha

OH! If you follow me on Twitter or Tumblr or around town you will know about my awesome luck yesterday with garage sales. Or estate sales in this case. I walked in and found a box in a back room full of old camera things. I just picked up the Polaroid (because it had film left in it!) and then the lady convinced me to buy the whole box.. for $10.. full of vintage instant cameras from the 70's and 80's and some extra film, flashes, and instruction booklets.
Though this morning my mom told me that the few that aren't instant; we might have a hard time developing. I'm looking into it though! It would be a shame to only get to use a few of the cameras for their instant-ness.
Outfit details - Headband, vintage ribbon from great grandma - Pants, from my dress up clothes - Red jewelry, likely thrifted - Tee, 25 cents (thrifted) - Cardigan, $3 (thrifted) - Sandals, $10 (Wal-Mart)

Firsthand

Today was filled with playing Mario Kart on my DSi, thrifting, Sims 2, and eating food I didn't make myself. It was absolutely wonderful! And I cannot even wait for tonight when America's Next Top Model is on, I love that show so, so much. Anyone else a fan who has some comments to add about who the winner might be?

I've also gotta say how much I love this shirt! When I won the sizeappeal.com gift card from Gerry at BBM, I knew in my mind exactly what I was going to buy. But I wasn't fast enough for some of the items and they sold out so I hesitantly went head and bought this shirt. I can't believe I almost didn't buy it, it's just so perfect for me! And especially perfect for this Summer of the 70's that fashion is headed for.

Is it weird to anyone else but me that these clothes were all bought new at stores? That's just something new to me. (haha, pun intended.. that was a really lame joke.)

Outfit details - Scarf, <$5 (Wal-Mart old) - Top that I am in love with, $5.99 (sizeappeal.com) - Sandals, $10 (Wal-Mart) - Jeans, $12.50 (Forever21)

Got Jesus On My Neck-a-lace

(title from the lyrics - We R Who We R by Ke$ha)
It is Easter Sunday, the day that Jesus rose from the grave. Might I say how wonderful it is to serve a living God! I hope you've all had a wonderful Sunday weather you celebrate or not - or just enjoy eating loads of chocolate from colorful eggs.

I tried to trick myself into thinking this outfit was a dress when it was clearly not. But I kind of wish it was a pretty, little, white Spring dress. I am on the hunt for dresses though. I nearly died of the heat last summer and wish I hadn't had to wear shorts and pants all the time. (So I exaggerate!)
It will be nice to wear them to the huge list of graduation parties I'm attending and a very special wedding for some very special friends of mine! Besides the obvious of scouring thrift stores (which trust me I am) is there any places I should check out? Do tell, because I trust the opinions of others as far as dresses go because it's not an area I'm well informed about!

Outfit details - Belt, free - Necklace, <1 (thrifted) - Skirt (thrifted) - Purple tank, $1 (Wal-Mart old) - Lace tank, <$5 (Wal-Mart, bought it 6 years ago for Easter) - Wedges, $? (Shop-Ko old)

Roots

It's Earth Day! My favorite way of being green is recycling my clothes for new outfits (and of course shopping for and donating them back to thrift stores!)
I had many ideas of what to wear this morning - something green? all thrifted? all homemade?
But then I just decided to deck myself out with flowers. My mom had the prettiest bouquet of flowers from her birthday last week, so I snatched my favorite orange one and took some good ol' fashioned outdoor pictures. It would have been fun to have sunny photos, but it's quite chilly and very rainy (thunderstorms are expected!) and my photographer kept complaining about her broken umbrella.

Outfit details - Umbrella, from my aunt (BUY NOW from Avon!) - Pancho, free from the same aunt - Vintage 60's shift dress, free from a garage sale - Feather earring, homemade - Necklace, $1 (Bargain Depot) - Ring, $1.50 (F21) - Gladiators, $10 (Wal-Mart) - Jeans, $12.50 (F21)

And in case any of you like light hearted fun about Earth Day - Here is a little video from the show I make on YouTube! (The Sheldon Show!)

Zig-Zag

I think Mother Nature is a little upset. It's so cold and rainy and snow-y and sleet-y outside. But I certainly wouldn't complain about, there is something so calming about hearing the rain beat outside my window. Also I can be truly thankful I have a warm house to sit in and inside that house is a computer that I can blog and read blogs.

So here are pictures from the semi-fine Sunday we had. My friends have been throwing me for a loop the past few weeks, needing me for things, then backing out at the last minute and changing their minds. Sunday was one of those days.. me waking up at 8 am just to find out they canceled their (10 am) plans. What these particular friends don't realize is that a lot of people do this to me (often) and I've beginning to lose hope and trust in any of my current friends. It's incredibly frustrating.
This past year has presented a lot of bad-friend situations and I'm SOOOO thankful for blogging because I've been able to meet people who do not care if we cannot hang out all the time, they are not going to ask for my services and then back out on me, and they are genuine and honest when they write. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I know blogging-strangers way more than I know my real life friends.
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, but it's been tugging on my heart for quite awhile and it feels good to finally let it out. I'm sure many of you can relate! Thank you for being a blogging friend, it's mean a lot to me. :)

Outfit details - Red top (Seventh Avenue old) - Necklace, homemade -Belt, $1.25 (thrifted) - Pants, $3 (thrifted) - Black long sleeve tee (Hanes) - Wedges, $15 (Wal-Mart. I saw them currently going for $5!)

Stand Tall

I'm super siked to participate in "Everybody, Everywear" this month. Although, can't say I'm thrilled with this look I came up with (one of those that looked way better in my head.) The final product just felt like it was unstyled, I'm so crazy about making sure my clothes are not left by themselves, like how this dress ended up. But I am thrilled about this dress! Cannot wait for the warm weather to stay around so it won't be so chilly when I wear it outside.
That's about all I got for you today, ahh seems like I should have more. Perhaps another day. :)

Outfit details - Maxi (Seventh Avenue) - Jewelry, from all over the place - Gladiators, $10 (Wal-Mart)

Painting The Town Red

Those flowers right there? Them are birthday flowers!! My mom turned 60 today. She is quite proud of it and spent the entire day telling everyone should came into contact with. My mom already got the best present ever and I can't really top it.. her sister from Alabama came all the way up to WI as a surprise!! None of us even expected it. I've only met her a handful of times and it's always such a delight to have her around. She is a true southern woman and has the cutest accent!

I've had a super busy weekend (which is such a nice change to not having anything on my schedule) and it's leading right into the entire week! I had originally not planned on helping my friend with an all-girls sleepover for her youth group, but I had a change of heart and now I'm in charge of games. I love planning games and playing games and people who love playing games.

If anyone has great games for a very large (30+) group of giggling high school girls, please feel free to share them! Or links.. links work just as well. :)

The photos were a bit impromptu today, I just threw my camera at my sister and told her to snap the pictures enough to see the outfit. I'm excited tomorrow for maxi dress day for "Everybody, Everywear". I ordered a new maxi for the summer and it's now my favorite thing in my closet right now. Well.. I should get going and try to tackle this busy week. Take care!

Partyin' Partyin' Yeah!

Though it is Friday - I'm not actually partyin'. I barely know what partyin' is! haha

I'm enjoying a quiet evening at home playing with my new toy from the thrift store. It's a Flash Screen made by Nickelodeon. I grew up watching that channel and I thought I knew all their products, but I didn't know this one. I got it for half price, so it was only $1.25. SCORE! Apparently they're hard to find and come with expensive price tags. I feel like I lucked out since this one was brand spanking new - never been opened!! It's already given me hours of fun. :)

Any old toys from your childhood that you wish were still available today or that you want to own?

Outfit details - Necklaces, from my sister - DIY Gauges - Ring, $1 (Claire's old) - Leopard top and vest, both from Seventh Avenue - Gladiators, $10 (Wal-Mart) - My trusty jeggings, $20 (Wal-Mart old)

Domestic Diva

the skirt is not supposed to be wrinkly, it's just fresh from a box! Many thanks about the well wishes for my mom!

I've had such an excellent day so far, I really can't complain. This morning I went ahead and wore my special shirt I bought from Forever 21 - The Birds of Bevy top. It's so dainty! I can't wait to dress up with it and wear it to fancy places. I really layered it up so it seemed more casual. After a successful day of thrifting; I came home to a package! It was full of some clothes I had ordered (this skirt being one of them, I just had to put it on!). I kind of got all crazy about my new finds and asked my mom to be the audience while I played "fashion show". It's a game I play almost everyday, and my mom is such an enthusiastic crowd.
There is a lot more to my life than clothes, but at the moment.. clothes are kind of the best part. I prefer to stay positive and just talk about the good stuff!

I found this cute little bag at the thrift store.. I was hesitant to buy it since I'm still iffy about the grandma floral. But it reminded me very much of my childhood and I thought it would be a unique and quirky bag to bring along to sleepovers. After I opened up a pocket, I found out someone had hidden glow-in-the-dark stars in it. Thank you kind stranger! I will use them at the next sleepover I go to. :DOutfit details - Necklace, from my sister - Rose earrings, ?? - Cardigan, $3 (thrifted, like new from Old Navy) - Shoes, $6 (Dollar General) - Skirt, Seventh Avenue - Birds of Bevy top, $19.80 (Forever21)

DIY: Fake Ear Gauges

Ever imagined getting your ears gauged but didn't want to go through the hassle of having your ears permanently stretched? I haven't, but I thought this would be a pretty awesome project! I must give credit to wear I first saw this over HERE.
I actually have a few friends who have their ears gauged for real, as well as my big brother, so I modeled mine after the ones they have. Simple and black.

It's incredibly easy, too!
You'll need - old (or new) post earrings with long backings, baking clay, and a paint or marker of your choice. (I used marker because my paint supply is low)

You just mold the clay around the earrings carefully. Just wedge that backing in the back peice, it will stay for sure. Then bake them according to the package. When they are cool just paint them and when they are dry, wear them proudly! (and I do mine proudly, people don't look too kindly on such ear accessories, at least no where I've ever been to.)

If this is not your cup of tea (which it's not entirely mine) I'm working on a few more "girlier" projects. One thing you can always expect from me is a project in the works!

Cast-Off

(the photos from the following outfit all turned out making me look creepy, this is the least awkward if you can believe it.. )
I'm gonna start right off saying how happy I was to wear this outfit. You know when you accidentally pull things together at the last minute and they just work? That is precisely what I did here. I was starting to ween myself off of jeans and then when I bought these ones (that I previously talked about) from F21, I just love them and want to wear them all the time!

Good news for anyone who is following the story of my mom.. SHE GOT BOTH CASTS OFF TODAY!! (Going to the hospital with her was my excuse to dress up. haha)
Her arms looks pretty sick and she says they feel weird, so right now she's just loading herself up on pills to ease it all. Ahhh, but it's just so exciting to see her arms again!

I've been feeling crafty all weekend and especially got my butt in gear this morning whipping up little goodies, so hopefully I will have a sa-weet DIY project up tomorrow! It is just another thing that I am excited about.

Outfit details - Ring, really couldn't tell you?!?! - Necklaces, home re-made - Poncho, from my aunt - Black tee.. it's just Hanes from Wal-Mart - My new favorite sandals, $10 (Wal-Mart) - Jeans, $12.50 (Forever 21)

Return of the Winter Weather

I wouldn't usually wear so many layers in the Spring time, but wouldn't you know it.. Mother Nature changed the game plan! So layers it was.

On Friday night I was invited over to a friends house and it kind of turned into a mini girls night. We played Settlers of Catan (obviously) and watched the strangest movie (though I'm not good at judging movies because I don't like taking the time to watch them) and it ended with a Zumba lesson.

One of the girls in the room was applying to become a Zumba instructor at the YMCA so she wanted to practice on us. All I knew about Zumba is that it's a type of dance-aerobics and that's about what it is. It was kind of funny, five girls dancing in the kitchen at 11:30 at night and all of us laughing uncontrollably because of how ridiculous the moves are.

Needless to say, I suck at dancing. But I counted is a workout and I sure hope she gets the job! She kept saying she was nervous, but she instructed us well and it was a good time.

Has anyone else done Zumba or anything similar it? What do you think of it?
