Bad to the Bone

My attempt to share that I have two different earrings on. A chain and a hoop.
I don't have a mean bone in me. lol

This was my choice of outfit for the day. I was given this chain a couple years ago from a friend and have always wanted to try to style it, well.. I finally did!

The highlight of my week has been watching the squirrel that lives in our yard. (no, it's not a pet. gee, I'm not that weird!) He is this completely evil squirrel. He has eaten another squirrel, he has army crawled through our garden, he's aware of when we're home and will stare us down. Most recently this week he has made two attempts to get into our house through an un-opened window AND him & his buddies have been stealing tomatoes from our garden. Who knew squirrels liked tomatoes?! He's an interesting fellow.

Just a Wedneday

I don't have much to say today. While quickly taking my pictures today (wasn't feeling up for it, hence the lack of them!) my poor camera had a bunch of lens malfunctions. It happens on occasion, and I just have to shove it back in, but today it happened like 10 times in a row! It's almost my 3rd Camera-versary as well, it might not make it. haha

Tonight is America's Next Top Model! I'm freaking excited. Do any of you guys watch that? (what a silly question, I'm sure you all do lol) Who are you rooting for? For me, it's too soon to tell.

Outfit details - Jeans, $10 (my self-altered Steve and Barry's jeans) - Plaid tunic, <$5 (Wal-Mart) - Black top, $1 (Sear's, long ago) - Gray cardigan, $4 (Shop-Ko) - Leopard print flats, $7 (K-Mart)

Buckle Up

This is pretty basic, I wasn't feeling up for matching colors and stuff. So I went with this plain black top but I was having trouble finding a bottom for it. The length of it was between dress and tunic length, awkward! So I kept trying to pin it up and then gave up. Then my mom decided to help, she ran out to our garage and came back in with that black buckle that is pictured up there. ^^ It worked perfectly! Plus it added a bit of interest to this black top.
I'm very excited for tonight! My friend (Sarah) asked if I wanted to go to a Christian young adults event. Apparently they reserved the upstairs of a Starbucks and it's going to be hanging out/party like. You know, come to think of it.. I've never been in an actual Starbucks! I've gotten drinks at the ones inside Targets and such, but never in the real thing. Is that lame or what?! haha
What's your favorite thing to order at Starbucks?

Outfit details - Top, $3 (thrifted, Canyon River brand) - Jeans, $4 (thrifted, Old Navy brand) - Scarf, gift - Mocs, $1 (Wal-Mart) - Feather earring, homemade - Buckle, from my great grandma's junk collection (seriously, we have everything odd and end's of hers in our garage, it's crazy how much stuff you can accumulate in a lifetime!)

Faaaaallllllll!

(I allowed my untrained sister to trim my hair, so if it's looks shorter, that's because it is!)

I'm gonna be one of those people who starts off talking about the weather, because it is crazy. At one moment it's hot, then it's cold, then it's overcast, then it storms, and now we have major wind and sunshine. That all happened in the last 2 days! I don't get it.
Fall has begun!! Fall is my absolute favorite season to photograph because of all the leaves changing colors. And I like colors!
Sadly, this outfit did not leave my house (.. yet?) and it's just what I wore to do meaningless tasks at home. I felt very fall with this mix of yellow&brown.
I'm not usually the type of person that buys something and then must immediately wear it, but I did buy these pants and that ring last week while I was out and this is the first day I've had a chance to wear them. The pants are not something I would usually wear but my mom insisted I have a pair of non-jeans in my pant collection for just-in-case. So here is one of the many ways I plan on trying to wear them.
Doesn't Autumn just make you excited to get dressed in the morning?!

Outfit details - Yellow tee, $2.50 (Target a few years ago) - Sweater, $1 (Wal-Mart) - Pants, $7 (Shop-Ko) - Ring, $3 (Wal-Mart) - Scarf, 50 cents (thrifted) - Necklace, $1? (thrifted) - Mocs, $1 (Wal-Mart) - Feather earring, homemade.

Cheese Days

This last Saturday made up for the crappy last weekend. I like it when things happen like that. On Friday I got a text from my friend (Vicki) in college telling me was coming up to visit for the weekend. The festivities for the weekend were going to be "Cheese Days". Exactly how it sounds, a whole weekend of celebrating cheese. I hate it, but people come from hours away just to to check it out, why? I will never know!
So on Saturday we all headed down to Cheese Days. The main attraction of the whole event is cheese curds. The line is ridiculously looooong! About an hour and half later, we walked away with a greasy little pile of cheese curds. They were alright, but they gave me such a stomach ache later! Ugh.
My outfit was just a repeat one because I had no time to get ready because Vicki called me when they were outside my house, so I had no warning of what time we were leaving. But this seemed stylish and great for lots of walking around.
I would post a group shot but I did not bring my camera and Vicki was taking the pictures and they all seem really unflattering of me.
Do any of you have any neat festivals in your town?

The World Record

So I was kind of trying to break a record this week of how long I could stay inside the house. I know some of you probably think it's sick that I can stay so long indoors, but I've gotten used it.
I went out to eat on Friday night to the place where my big brother works and have continued to stay inside. That is until yesterday, Wednesday, it's like the angels sang and the gates of Heaven opened and my mom said, "Wanna go run errands with me?" Golly I jumped at the chance.

Now, all of this was made possible because my really big Saturday plans got completely spoiled like bad milk. I was crushed and devastated. It's kind of my own fault though, because I kept on texting friends trying to get rides and none of them would do it. How's it my fault? If I had a license I would have had no problem. Probably the worst part of the Saturday is that I didn't exactly cancel my plans with my friends, I just didn't go... It's so out of character for me as well. I'm the kind of person who is good for my word if I say I'm going to do something. I dislike it with a passion when my friends cancel on me at the last minute for stupid reasons (it's happened more times than I'd like to recall). I guess I was embarrassed to let them know I didn't have a ride.
BUT HEY! I don't want to be a downer today, so why not something awesome that happened this week? Change is always good right? Well I decided to change up my hair routine ever so slightly. I recently developed a scalp condition and started using sea salt in my hair, little did I know that sea salt causes curlspurts! Best thing ever. I'm weird and actually leeerve curly hair. I always hated straightening my bangs, I went through a strike last Winter against my straightener and only insisted on having natural hair. Well, my bangs didn't get the message and got all wonky, they never really do curl well. But thanks to the sea salt, they do now! Of course, I could never post a blog without having pictures. So here ya go, my new hair....

If you just read this entire thing, did you have nothing better to do??! Ha, no, it's ok, really, I think it's kind of awesome anyone reads this blog and the random things I do in a week. So a big thank you to you! :)

OOOOH wait, one more thing! My friend had this written inside her Dove Chocolate this morning and I think it's probably one of the greatest things I've heard in awhile and it goes well with the beginning of this post.
"make plans, but allow for change"

I went to the Mall of America and all I got was this tank top..

 with the sweater -

without the sweater and shoes -
 close up! -
This is perhaps an overdone look in magazines such as Seventeen, but it's a look I've never done. You know, the one with a floral skirt, tights, tennies, and a sweater?
Recognize this skirt? It's a little trick I did to turn my tunic into a skirt without cutting it at all. I kind of geeked out when I did it, I was excited! I plan on doing it with a few more of my tunics.
I really did go to Mall of America and only walk out with one little Old Navy bag. This tank (which I'm almost sure could be a night shirt, but it was too comfy and oversized to pass up) was on the clearance rack for $3.50 with a big sign saying "All Clearance Items are 30% off".
I am absolutely looking forward to this weekend! I've got a baby shower for a friend and right after a "Good Neighbor Festival" where my favorite local band, Loftland, will be playing. :) Friday and Sunday should be jealous of Saturday!

Outfit details - Pinkish colored tee, $3 (Wet Seal) - Tank, $2.40 (Old Navy) - Sweater, free (Jeans for Jesus) - Key necklace, $1 (Bargain Depot) - Two pairs of tights! Both from Wal-Mart - Fake Converse, $11 (Wal-Mart) - Beret, $5 (Forever21)

Minne Trip

So this past Labor Day weekend, 3 of my friends and I took a trip to Minnesota to visit our friend, Emily, who is in college. Here is what I wore and did! (pictures on the left are photos I re-took of the outfits when I got home while the pictures on the right are from the adventure)

Saturday morning our adventure began. My friend Sarah and I wore mustaches and stared down cars. As soon as we got in town, we went downtown for food and then took the light rail to Mall of America. Holy cow is that place HUGE! You just can't prepare yourself for it. haha
Outfit details - Jeans, $3 (thrifted) - Top, $4.24 (Target a few years ago) - Black top underneath, $3 (wal-mart) - Shoes, $7 (K-Mart) -Necklace, homemade - Owl ring (Forever21)
On Sunday morning we tried a church called The Wells on 7th Street. Then we all just lounged around in the dorm.
Outfit details - Leggings (wal-mart) - Skirt as dress, $3 (thrifted) - Pink top underneath (Wet Seal) - Vest, $1 (thrifted) - Necklace w/broach, random and then I mixed them up together - Flip flops, $1 (Wal-Mart)

On Sunday afternoon we met up with a friend/fellow college goer and had lunch. It cost $8 for us visitors and the food SUCKED, and all I ate was cheesy potatoes. Not worth it. Later in the evening we walked downtown again and went to Applebee's for some good food!
Outfit details - Vintage top, free (garage sale) - Jeans, $10 (Steve and Barry's) - Belt, 75 cents (thrifted) - Scarf, gift (Shop-Ko) - Cardi, $1 (Wal-Mart) - Flip flops, $1 (Wal-Mart)

We woke up to storm clouds on Monday. After everyone finally woke up and quit being lazy (we spent maybe 2 hours just hanging out in the dorm) we drove to Denny's for some breakfast-like-lunch. Then it was a long 5 hour trip back home... ah, what an interesting weekend we had!
Outfit details - Green cardi, $3 (thrifted) - Scarf, 75 cents (thrifted) - Jeans, $4 (thrifted) - Black tee underneath, $1 (Sear's) - Mocs, $1 (Wal-Mart) - Wooden bracelets, assorted from Claire's - Beret, $2? (Forever 21)

I could never make it in the life as a college kid in a big town. My feet are sore (wayyyy too much walking) and my blisters are crazy bad. It also seemed that danger met us on every single corner. But over all it was a pretty neat experience! Everyone on campus was so stylish. Their wardrobes looked like they were decked out in Forever21, H&M, and lots of Wet Seal. I felt very shabby compared to them. I also learned how important it is to have a cross-body bag rather than the silly handbag I carried. But at least now I know!

One Big Step

(I previously wore these shoes back in March)

This may sound odd, but I have never worn heels or wedges outside of church and weddings. I've never quite figured out how to pull them off for everyday.
Well.. today I put my fear aside and wore wedges! Just for running errands and eating lunch with my mom and sister.
It was fun, but after getting home and taking them off I discovered two burst blisters and my toes felt like someone beat them with a hammer. My poor feet. (sorry, feet!)
Sorry the pictures sucked. I woke up to rain, then suddenly it got sunny and humid and when I took these pictures the sun was shining in the most odd of places, I realized after taking them that a lot of the detail was lost. No worries, the outfit was kind of basic looking anyways, so you're not missing out on much. It was pretty much exactly THIS outfit, but with a slight variation.

Outfit details - Pink tank (under all the layers!) 25 cents, St.Vinny's - White V neck, $3 (Target) - Striped blouse, 25 cents (St.Vinny's) - Wedges, $?? (Shop-Ko) - Bracelets, something I got from my great grandma when I got to go through her jewelry one day, they're super old!

I'm sooooo excited for this weekend (Labor Day weekend). I got a text from my friend wanting to road trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota to visit another friend at college! :D (or course I said yes) If you're not from the US, Minneapolis is home to the Mall of America, this should be amazing.
