To Summerize (see what I did there!)

I'm just so full of puns lately.
Ok, so this is my first time using Flickr to add my photos. Kind of exciting for me, I've just been using the blog editor uploader because I had no idea there was any other way! And I didn't care.
So today is Thursday, but in my house, it's girls day. My sister, mom, and I go out for lunch and run through St.Vincent's. It a nice one hour out of the week. :)
For some reason I felt dressy even though I was wearing freakin' leggings. lol (three words in a row ending in "ing"!) I think it was the fake pearls and broach. I don't usually wear broaches or skirts outside of dressy events, so this was new to me. I liked it though!

Outfit details - Skirt as dress, thrifted from long ago - leggings, $4 or something (wal-mart) - oh yeah, I wore the vest again!! $11 (forever XXI) - white tee, $3 (target) - jewelry, $0 (from relatives, then I mixed and pinned them together myself for a new look)
- belt, came attached to a vest (yeah, somehow I own other vests. hehe)

This was the last time I wore this skirt. Super Bowl Sunday of 2006.

The Weekenders

Me and my two friends, Sarah and Emily, on Saturday. We accidentally dressed alike. If Sarah and Emily's clothes had a baby, it would be my outfit. We went to a birthday party for our friend, Nicole. I actually didn't know her well, but I had a good time getting to know her and her friends. The blond on the end who is not Sarah or I is someone we met at the party.

On Sunday I hosted a photo scavenger hunt. I think this was the fifth one I have done. They are super fun! This was a few members of my team, we were having a pillow fight in Wal-Mart.
We take our names quite seriously! This was playing a harmonica with your nose, but I look at it as a mustache. And no good outfit posts is complete without a mustache! haha

Saturday Outfit details - Black tee, $1 (Sears) - Purple Dress, $7 (store in the mall.. Rue21?) - Jeggings, $20 (Wal-Mart) - Vest, $11 (Forever XXI) - Gladiators, .75 cents (Wal-Mart) - Key necklace, $1 (BD) - Zebra print bangle, .50 cents (thrifted)

(perhaps I was to lazy to come up with anything good, but these are pretty much the exact same outfits! lol)

Sunday Outfits details - Dress, $0 (homemade!) - Vest, $11 (Forever XXI) - Key necklace, $1 (BD) - Jeggings, $20 (Wal-Mart) - Gladiators, .75 cents (Wal-Mart)

(random picture from Saturday. Sarah took it and I edited it up!)

Say Hello To Your Friends

I am jumping on the floral bandwagon. My mom was getting rid of some of her "90's homeschool mom" dresses. Homeschool mom dresses is a term I made up, they are long, unflattering dresses and everyone of my homeschool friends' mom wore them. Anyways! So I took two of the dresses and together (with my mom) we cut and sewed them into cute modern tunics. (or long shirts, I never know which word I'm looking for)
Today's look is dark. Could be 90's grunge, but I much prefer - The Babysitter's Club! Not the silly movie from like 1994, but the actual book/movie series.
As a kid, my sister collected pretty much every book and was in the fan club and as I got older (as in the last 5 years) I began collecting the movies! I LOVE THEM! Anytime I'm looking for style inspiration, I just pop in an episode and take it all in. I also get babysitting advice from them.

Outfit details - Dress; homemade - Jeggings; Wal-Mart $20 - Vest; Thrift $1 - Necklace; free, but it's Avon

If you like the stylishly dressed Babysitter's Club then I would highly recommend this awesome blog!

Go Fish!

I'm so in love with this vest. I bought it from forever21.com and paid $11, which is more than I would pay for anything and I wasn't even sure this would fit/I would like it. To my surprise, it's my new favorite item in my closet! :)
So I helped out the library program called "Rollin' on a River". I didn't know what to expect so I wore these alligator earrings I've had since I was a kid. It ended up we talked about the Mississippi river.. no alligators live there! lol

Outfit details - Tee (Sears) - Jeans (Wal-Mart) - Vest (XXI) - Jewelry - Necklace (thrift) Green Bangle (gift) Wooden Bangle (Bargain Depot)

I absolutely hated that necklace when I bought it, it was a last minute decision at Goodwill a few years back.. "Hey, it's only a $1", I thought. Then I nearly gave it away but now I've come to like it now!

InVESTed

Since pausing the blog, I have bought many new things. Probably my favorite are some vests. A black floral lace one, this slouchy gray one, and a greenish-striped one I made. They make it easy getting dressed in this heat. When I have too many tank straps showing, I can just throw a vest over it! Or if a roll is in the wrong place, I can use a vest as camouflage.
Look! I really do own neato necklaces other than my favorite key. :)
I've been crafting this week and I used the scissors too much and rubbed small areas of skin off 3 of my fingers, can you guess which ones?! ha

Outfit Details - Tanks (both Wal-Mart), Vest (XXI), Shorts (Unknown), Necklace (giftish)

A Brand New Key

Since the Summer heat hit more than a month ago, my brain has not been able to retain information. Which is fancy talk for I can't remember a thing! I have lost all sorts of things, important information, my phone, my camera, keys.. ugh!
My creativity has sadly also been missing. Since returning from camp, I haven't really felt like dressing up and haven't had any brilliant clothing ideas.
I then spent the afternoon in my fort and realized what I should do. I went through tons of folders of magazine clippings and such I had for inspiration. I realized my clothing does not reflect the style I like.
I love that vintage/punk/hippie/effortless look. And then I looked at the photos I have posted here and noticed I looked like a normal teen. My outfits had no wow factor. (that is such a Michael Kors on Project Runway thing to say.. hahaha, perhaps I've been watching too much!)
So I am challenging myself to show my style (and eventually make it a regular occurrence). I also would like you to know that I own more than jeans and one key necklace as far as jewelry! lol
Thanks for sticking to this blog thus far, I know it kind of sucks, but I'm ready for something new!
