My mom and I went to our first sale of the season. We've been doing it for years. When I was kid I went to look for vintage Fisher Price toys. (I probably have the largest collection ever) Then as I got in my teens it was all about sweet clothing finds! And now.. it's a little bit of everything, but I'm starting to get into looking for junk. The show I work on, on YouTube is always in need of random, cool things. Today I purchased a Polaroid One Step 600 instant camera. (camera - $1) I've been reading lately about how Polaroid is bringing back the film for this camera, which is wonderful, but it's also expensive.. that shouldn't be a problem if you really love pictures, right?!
I've been interested in photography since I was 14. I've studied and inhaled books about photography, Googled many big wigs in the business, favorited many photography sites on my computer, and of course actually went out and got some great shots. I'm very weak in the actual knowledge of cameras. But I know how to take a great picture (as well as some neat-o tricks)! In my senior year of high school, I felt sure I was destined to be a photographer. I considered taking classes and such at the local tech school and wanted to get involved as an assistant at a photo place here in town. I was even offered a job taking pictures/selling things on Ebay for a local antique store. (didn't work out, and it wasn't my fault!)But.. God had other plans for me. I don't know what it is yet, but that's ok. I'm still young!
Anywho.. I just wanted to talk about this nifty camera and look at me! Totally spilling out my dream guts from high school. (which was soo long ago.. not!)I recently read an article from a Life magazine published in the 1960's about how the Polaroid camera came to be, it was a magazine I snagged from great Grandma's house when she moved out. It was really fascinating. I think it's good to know the history of cameras and photo and art before actually going out and attempting it. I would really love to scan the article for you all to see. Also, the entire magazine was a good read, I felt like it was a fresh issue and I was inside 1960, or whenever it was.
I am completely looking forward to what other great finds I will discover this season at garage sales. I hope you all have an AWESOME weekend!!

(not taken on the camera as I don't have film for it yet, this is just the Poladroid edited effect, I thought it was neat)
